COMMUNICATION

During an emergency, communication will be a key resource. EPIC-FSC will provide real-time alerts during the disaster with updates provided hourly. Communication notices will continue through the recovery process. After an earthquake, there may be a week-long wait for assistance. There may also be disruption to your phone and cellular service.

Founded in 1977, the Malibu Search & Rescue Team is an all-volunteer organization made up of many skilled individuals. They include:

Los Angeles Country Sheriff’s Department Reserve Deputy Sheriffs
Selected Individuals from the Civilian Volunteer Specialists
Incident Support Personnel

Team members volunteer their time and efforts to help others, and the team does not charge for rescues. The team is a unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and is also a member of the prestigious California region of the Mountain Rescue Association.
