Distracted Driving

Emergencies come in many forms. EPIC knows Distracted Driving can be just as devastating to your loved ones as a fire or an earthquake.

In 2023, 42% of high school students admitted to texting or emailing while driving. That year, distracted driving was a factor in 3,275 deaths and 324,819 injuries in the U.S. Drivers aged 15-20 years old were the largest proportion of drivers reported as distracted at the time of a fatal crash.

In 2024, distracted driving violations increased by 48% in the first six months.

You can be the best messengers to your friends, so we encourage you to SPEAK UP!

Parents have to lead by example by never driving distracted.

Take the quiz. How many of these “crash causers” have you done while driving?

  • 15% – Interacting with your friends/passengers
  • 12% – using a cellphone
  • 10% – looking at something in the vehicle – like a cellphone or last night’s homework
  • 6% – doing your hair & Makeup
  • 6% – reaching for something, like food
