After a major disaster, first responders may be inundated with emergency requests and demands. Residents may have to rely on each other for immediate first aid and life-sustaining needs. The Department’ s CERT program provides the public with basic training in safety and life-saving skills. The CERT program is developed in accordance with standards set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department and the City of Calabasas are hosting a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Hybrid Training. Interested participants are required to complete an independent-study online course prior to taking the in-person hands-on training session which is conducted in one day.

Did you know that one of the most effective ways to prepare for an earthquake or other disaster is to become CERT-trained? Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training teaches residents how to care for themselves and assist others when first responders may be delayed.
Calabasas CERT now offers Hybrid CERT Training. Participants will learn valuable skills in disaster preparedness, fire safety, basic medical treatments, search and rescue, and more.
Residents must complete eight online training modules by August 1, 2026, and attend an in-person training session on August 1 at the Calabasas Community Center.
Participants who successfully complete both portions of the program will receive a CERT certificate and an emergency preparedness backpack.
